SundayMercury.net on January 09, 2011 reported that a nurse accused of dragging a semi-naked patient by his wrist along the floor of a dementia ward has been struck off. William Carthy, 49, was said to have pulled pensioner Edward Haughton by his arm in front of other patients and staff at St George’s Hospital in Stafford. The incident was reported to health bosses by a shocked student nurse. The male nurse was sacked and faced a police probe over the allegations, which were also passed to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
