theboltonnews.co.uk on March 02, 2011 reported that a doctor has been called before a disciplinary hearing to answer claims that he prescribed drugs to a family member. Dr Simon Caswell has previously been suspended from practising by the medical watchdog, the General Medical Council, for treating a relative. It is not illegal for doctors to treat their own family but it is considered bad practice. Dr Caswell, who worked at Beehive Surgery in Crescent Road, Great Lever, is before the council’s fitness to practise panel for a case of impairment by reason of misconduct.
