India: Doctor suspended for manipulating rape case records

The Times of India on March 17, 2011 reported that Dr Wrushab Wagh and police inspector Deepak Sakhare of Amgaon, who allegedly manipulated the records to protect the guilty in the rape and murder of a minor girl at village Tigaon on March 1, have been suspended. This announcement was made by home minister RR Patil in the legislative council on Wednesday. A minor girl belonging to the Gowari community was gang-raped in village Tigaon near Amgaon on March 1, 2011. It later came to light that Amgaon police inspector Deepak Sakhre and medical officer Wrushab Wagh had failed to perform their duty properly while bringing the culprits to book in the case.
