oregonlive.com on April 18, 2011 reported that a former Tigard doctor who fled the country seven years ago to avoid state and federal drug charges will not have to serve additional time in prison for making a false statement to drug authorities, a federal judge said Monday. Steven Gabriel Moos, 41, was sentenced to time served and three-years’ probation on the single count. In addition, he will have to serve four months of home confinement and do 200 hours of community service, said U.S. District Judge Garr King. King rejected the request by an assistant U.S. attorney to issue a sentence of six months in prison – which would be the high end of the guideline for the offense and Moos’ criminal history.
