United Kingdom: Suspended doctor might be struck off
pressassociation.com on June 10, 2011 reported that a former London hospital consultant jailed for trying to poison his lover to bring on an abortion faces being struck off at a disciplinary hearing this month. Married Dr Edward Erin received a six-year prison sentence in 2009 after being convicted of attempting to administer miscarriage-inducing drugs to Bella Prowse. The Old Bailey heard that the former chest consultant at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, west London, led a fantasy life where he preyed on women by dazzling them with his wealth. Erin has been suspended as a doctor and could be struck off altogether when his case comes before a General Medical Council disciplinary panel in London on June 27 and 28.
