United Kingdom: Banned GP can return to surgery with pre-conditions
sundaysun.co.uk on July 03, 2011 reported that a ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ GP banned from practising as a doctor after swearing at staff can return to his surgery. Angry doctor Henry Chichester Vaughan Edward Hart was suspended from practising for six months by the General Medical Council (GMC) in December after a panel found his behaviour “rude, aggressive, unhelpful, and unprofessional”. The panel heard that Dr Hart, 45, frequently shouted at staff at the Bayside Family Practice in Ulverston, Cumbria, where he worked between 2004 and 2008. The panel found him guilty of a string of disciplinary offences while principal GP at the practice, during which time 800 of the 4,000 patients were said to have moved to other practices. The panel heard the GP would stare at his computer rather than look at patients and frequently undermined staff at the practice.
