mariettatimes.com on September 02, 2011 reported that the State Board of Osteopathy plans to hold a hearing next week on its suspension of the medical license of a Barbourville doctor who it says poses a danger to the public. Media outlets report that the board suspended Dr. Philip Fisher’s license on Aug. 25 following an investigation. The hearing is set for Sept. 8. In its statement of charges, the board said Fisher’s prescribing practices contributed to the deaths of seven patients. It alleged that Fisher prescribed controlled substances in dangerous amounts and combinations repeatedly to some patients. He also is accused of failing to monitor patients’ responses to the drugs or look for signs of drug abuse.
