courant.com on September 20, 2011 reported that in trying to salvage his client's medical license, Dr. Gerson Sternstein's lawyer argued that the Berlin psychiatrist selflessly treated a class of patients that few other doctors would touch: chronic-pain patients with a history of drug abuse. The contention failed to mollify the Connecticut Medical Examining Board, which on Tuesday revoked Sternstein's license and fined him $50,000 for recklessly overmedicating 10 drug-addicted patients in 2009. His license was suspended in August 2010.
