edmontonjournal.com on October 29, 2011 reported that the parents of a baby who died after receiving severe brain injuries at a Rocky Mountain House hospital two years ago have filed a lawsuit alleging broad negligence in medical treatment caused the infant's death. The suit names Alberta Health Services, the David Thompson Health Region, the Rocky Mountain House hospital and several doctors and nurses. Isaiah James May was born in October 2009 after 40 hours of labour, with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. The birth resulted in a catastrophic brain injury. Isaiah died in March 2010 after his parents took him off life support in Edmonton. The statement of claim was filed in Court of Queen's Bench on Oct. 24, which would have been the infant's second birthday. None of the allegations has been proven in court.
