lfpress.com on November 03, 2011 reported that the doctor accused of exposing patients to hepatitis and HIV by not cleaning equipment properly now faces a $20-million class-action lawsuit. Merchant Law Group is handling the suit that names Dr. Christiane Farazli as the defendant. Lawyer Nicholas Robinson said the firm filed the statement of claim at the Ottawa courthouse Thursday. None of the allegations have been proven in court. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario has been investigating Farazli after her endoscopy clinic failed an inspection last May. The college said equipment for colonoscopies and gastroscopies was not always cleaned properly in between tests.
