Canada: Doctor banned for prescribing narcotic drugs

news.nationalpost.com on November 21, 2011 reported that an Ontario doctor linked to twin overdose deaths in a case that tragically underlined Canada’s narcotic-painkiller problem has been banned from prescribing such drugs and officially reprimanded, his past prescribing habits labelled “cavalier” and even bizarre. The Ontario College of Physicians & Surgeons also ordered Dr. Alan Redekopp of Brockville to submit to surprise inspections, but stopped short of suspending or fining him after he pleaded guilty to a disciplinary charge Monday.
