Singapore: Medical council suspends doctor for professional misconduct

channelnewsasia.com on November 22, 2011 reported that a 54-year-old doctor from Bukit Batok has been suspended for three months for inappropriately prescribing the benzodiazepine and codeine-containing cough mixtures which may result in addiction in the long term. The Singapore Medical Council also imposed a S$5,000 fine and censured Dr Tan Teck Hong of Excelsior Clinic and Surgery at Blk 283 Bukit Batok East Ave 3 for the offences. Dr Tan faced 16 charges of professional misconduct and pleaded guilty to all.
