USA: Pain-management doctor charged in prescription fraud

azcentral.com on December 14, 2011 reported that a metro Phoenix pain-management doctor and his ex-wife were charged with 130 counts stemming from his medical clinics that dispensed thousands of prescriptions for oxycodone, methadone and other pain pills to area residents for non-medical reasons. Angelo Chirban, 62, and Marilyn Chirban, 60, both of Queen Creek, were charged with conspiracy to illegally distribute controlled substances, illegal distribution of controlled substances, health-care fraud, health-care-fraud conspiracy and money laundering.
