India: Accused doctor moves to criminal court for anticipatory bail

timesofindia.com on December 24, 2011 reported that days after Maddelacheruvu Suri's niece Gangula Hemalatha was arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for her alleged involvement in extortion of money from a businessman, suspended Nims deputy medical superintendent G Sarath Chandra Nagavara Prasad, who is also an accused in this case, moved the Nampally criminal court on Friday for anticipatory bail. The court directed the CID officials to file their counter by Saturday in response to the anticipatory bail petition filed by the accused. The CID officials have declared Sarath Chandra an absconder.
