Tapson, 50, pleaded not guilty Thursday to transportation for personal use of cocaine, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of public intoxication and resisting arrest. Under California law, even a felony drug conviction could be treated minimally in criminal courts. However, a conviction could result in the loss of his professional license.
