therepublic.com on January 06, 2012 reported that the government is seeking $150 million from a medical radiology company, its owners and a physician for kickbacks, violating Medicare rules and inadequate supervision of tests. The U.S. Attorney's office says Friday a complaint has been filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit against Universal Imaging Inc., Phillip Young and Mark Lauhoff, and Dr. Gwendolyn Washington. The suit claims at least 90 percent of the Ypsilanti-based company's business came through kickbacks to a number of doctors.
