wisconsinrapidstribune.com on January 13, 2012 reported that a former Wisconsin Rapids dentist driven by an addiction to pain killers to write fraudulent prescriptions was sentenced in federal court to three years in prison for illegally obtaining and dispensing controlled substances. "It's been a lengthy period of trauma you've endured since you realized you made some very stupid mistakes," District Judge Barbara Crabb told Edward McGrath during Thursday's sentencing. "It's too bad you couldn't get help before your arrest … but since then, you've done a good job (addressing your addiction)."
