India: Two senior health ministry officials booked on a string of criminal and corruption charges

indianexpress.com on January 14, 2012 reported that the Delhi Police registered two cases against two senior Health Ministry officials of the Delhi government for purchasing surgical gloves and other disposables for various hospitals allegedly at inflated rates from two private firms, causing a huge loss to the state exchequer. The Crime Branch of Delhi submitted an FIR against the two officials this week before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal. The two officials, who have been booked by the police on a string of criminal and corruption charges, were Dr D S Rao, Chief Medical officer at the Central Procurement Agency, and Dr S Bhattacharjee, Director, Health Services.
