United Kingdom: Doctor claims his dismissal to be racially motivated
sundaysun.co.uk on January 22, 2012 reported that a doctor being investigated for fraud is claiming his dismissal by North health chiefs was racially motivated. Nigerian gynaecologist Dr Anthony Emeka Madu was hired by County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) to work as a specialist trainee at Middlesbrough’s James Cook University Hospital. But trust chiefs would later discover the medic’s conduct was being investigated by the General Medical Council. It is claimed the doctor was working at University Hospital of Wales, in Cardiff, receiving a sick pay salary of around £50,000, and had taken up locum work with Scarborough Hospital secretly.
