India: Hospital, doctor in trouble after child's death

timesofindia.com on February 07, 2012 reported that trouble broke out at a hospital off EM Bypass Medica Superspeciality Hospital ( MSH) on Monday morning after the death of a child who had been admitted there with burns. Relatives of six-year-old Ritoprabha Ghosh alleged medical negligence on part of the hospital, despite charging an exorbitant fee. Father Jayanta Ghosh has lodged a complaint with the Purba Jadavpur police station. Relatives claimed that the hospital did not have a burn specialist and the girl was treated by a child specialist. They also alleged that Ritoprabha's wounds weren't dressed properly and the hospital didn't update them on the patient's condition. A police team reached the hospital to prevent any untoward incident.
