herald.ie on February 14, 2012 reported that a doctor who admitted secretly filming a female patient using the toilet at his Dublin clinic has failed in his bid to change his plea to not guilty. Deva Devendra (38) had admitted a charge of harassment in the incident two years ago but then tried to enter a not guilty plea and contest the case. However, a judge has refused his request and adjourned the case for the preparation of a pre-sentence probation report. Devendra, who admitted he had a "fetish" for watching women going to the toilet, was arrested after the woman found the hidden camera at Balbriggan Medical Centre. The accused, of Balrothery Field, Balbriggan, had pleaded guilty to one count of harassment at the Drogheda Street clinic on February 16, 2010. Devendra had subsequently claimed that he was pressurised into admitting the crime because of legal advice, and that he was not fit to plead as he was on anti-depressant medication.
