mercurynews.com on February 16, 2012 reported that a doctor with offices in three East Bay cities may lose his medical license following an investigation that found he had prescribed narcotics to people without examining them and billed for a doctor's visit that never occurred, according to the Alameda County District Attorney's office. Alameda County District Attorney Nancy E. O'Malley said that Dr. Naim Katiby, 62, of San Ramon, on Wednesday pleaded guilty to a felony criminal count of filing a false insurance claim after a two-month investigation by the district attorney's office, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the California Department of Insurance. "Hopefully, the end result here and what we are going for, is he will lose his medical license," said Alameda County Deputy District Attorney Matt Wendt, who led the investigation for the district attorney's office. Between November 2008 and January 2009, undercover DEA agents, posing as people involved in auto accidents, sought treatment from Katiby at Aaftab Medical Center at 15921 East 14th St. in San Leandro.
