Morales-Ryan and Garcia-Morales owned and operated Orthogenesis International Centre, a Laredo dentistry and orthodontics business, and a substantial portion of their business was targeted to rendering services to Medicaid-eligible children. Applicable Texas law and Medicaid regulations required them to be in their offices when services were rendered on Medicaid patients as a prerequisite to receiving payment for the services from Medicaid. Similar consumer protection laws and regulations are applicable to most types of physicians for many of the services they render in Texas, regardless of whether the patient is or is not a Medicaid beneficiary.
Share|

thisissomerset.co.uk on May 17, 2012 reported that a Yeovil doctor has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting two of his female patients. Dr Habeeb Mohammad Abdul Latheef, 44, of Merevale Way, appeared before South Somerset Magistrates charged with the offences which date back as far as four years ago. He is alleged to have touched a woman, aged 16 or over, in a sexual manner when she did not consent during an incident at Yeovil on February 22, 2008. He is also charged with an identical offence alleged to have been committed at Yeovil on December 22, 2011. Prosecutor Tim Rutherford told the court that the two alleged victims were patients of the Yeovil GP and the offences were said to have occurred during examinations. Latheef did not enter pleas to either of the charges.
Share|

nj.com on May 17, 2012 reported that a New York doctor has been indicted in New Jersey for allegedly writing illegal prescriptions for an oxycodone ring. Hassan Lahham faces 11 counts of distributing oxycodone and one count of conspiracy to distribute. Each count carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence. The U.S. Attorney's Office says Lahham began illegally issuing prescriptions for drugs containing the powerful painkiller as early as January 2009. The prescriptions allegedly were filled at pharmacies in Monmouth, Ocean and Atlantic counties and then redistributed.
Share|
